The Economic Location

Unique framework conditions, numerous location advantages, and the geographical location in the heart of Europe distinguish Liechtenstein as a business location.

For 100 years, Liechtenstein and Switzerland have been connected in a customs and currency union. Since 1991, Liechtenstein has been a full member of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and benefits from one of the largest networks of concluded free trade agreements worldwide. On May 1, 1995, Liechtenstein joined the European Economic Area (EEA) Agreement. The economic and customs union with Switzerland and the EEA membership allow Liechtenstein access to both the Swiss and European economic areas.

Liechtenstein has more employees than residents. The industry is the largest economic sector in Liechtenstein, and several Liechtenstein companies are global market leaders in their respective industries.
